A Word from Judy

Hi everyone,

My name is Judy Carter and I am lucky enough to have worked at Jumbunna over the last 15 years. I commenced as an untrained worker and as I enjoyed this work so much, continued on to complete my training and receive my Diploma.

At the moment I am room leader in the Koala Room working with some wonderful, caring staff in Wendy, Lisa, Denise, Sharyn and many others who have the pleasure of working in this busy but exciting room. These staff members have many years of experience and bring many differing skills to our room, making sure that there is lots of variety and fun to be had.

For many of the children in our room it is their first experience at preschool. We spend a lot of time ensuring that the children are happy and confident in our setting, which then allows for building on concept knowledge, language and social skills, and fine and gross motor abilities. This is done in a fun and natural way, using play as the main focus in providing the therapy and skills they need.

I hope that for the children in the Koala Room they enjoy their time with us and gain the skills needed to continue on with their learning experience as they progress on to the Platypus Room, outside agencies and then more formal education.

Books provide both a literacy and social experience for the children.
