A Word from Robyn

Hi my name is Robyn Dwyer, I have been working as a casual at Jumbunna for the past 3 years and have been in Early Childhood for 12 years

Laylah was playing with the playdough adding eyes & feathers when I asked her what she was making she said “a chicken” she then started to pull the feathers out so I asked what was she doing now & she replied “I’m plucking the feathers so we can eat it” she then pulled the eyes out & said “can’t eat the eyes”

She then went over to the painting easel and started doing a painting & putting some collage pieces on it, when I asked what she was painting she said “ said a chicken”..

This experience shows how Laylah extends her learning & interests through different experiences. It also provides an insight into Laylah’s world and the understanding of nature

I believe it is important for children to be provided with an environment where they can express their understanding of the world through play.
