A Word From Robyn

After thirty-five years as Director of Jumbunna I have retired. I was honoured to join with many friends at my recent retirement function to celebrate.
I sincerely thank Karen and the team for organising the night and for giving me the opportunity to share so many wonderful memories with people who have meant a lot to me over the years.
I started at Jumbunna in 1979 as Cleaner and Treasurer on the Committee, when my own children started at the preschool. In 1980 I became Director, with two other staff, and 25 children. I have been privileged to see Jumbunna grow into the beautiful centre it is today, with 33 staff, over 160 children (130 with additional needs), and operating a wide diversity of 12 programs. This has been possible because of the dedication and hard work by many, many people over the years, including staff, committee, families, and community members.
We have certainly had our challenges at times, but these are easily over-ridden by the many successes and happy times. I will always remember the joy of working with the children, watching them grow and learn, and their families sharing their joys and challenges. I have gained great pleasure working with our staff, seeing them work with the children and families in such a professional and caring manner. The generosity of the people in our community has always amazed me, with contributions of their time, donations and fundraising for Jumbunna.
I am extremely grateful for my many happy years at Jumbunna. So many people and children taught me so much in many ways over the last 35 years.
Thank you to everyone for these beautiful memories.
