hello from Cath at Sugartown

Tuesday was Pancake Day for those of you that were unaware. I myself did not know the significance of this day until Sylvia informed me. Apparently it is the day before Ash Wednesday and leading into Lent. Basically it is the last chance to feast and an opportunity for people to use up their eggs and milk.

Jumbunna was  sugartown shrove tuesdayon board with this celebration at preschool, staff and students alike. It was actually a great opportunity for everyone to sit together and converse. The children not only got to participate in the making of the pancakes, which involved waiting and turn taking, but they used this time to expand on their vocabulary.

Some of the words used to describe the pancakes were “yummy, fantastic, delicious and scrumptious !”

Hope you got to enjoy this day too.
